We live in permanent turbo-mode. Everything has to be faster, higher, further. But speed isn\u2019t progress if it catapults us in the wrong direction. In the climate crisis we need a new mindset: deeper, more conscious, more sustainable.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The old faith in progress<\/h2>\n

Since industrialization, the mantra has been growth: more output, lower costs, higher profits. The formula is as simple as it is fatal: technology boosts efficiency \u2192 boosts productivity \u2192 lowers prices \u2192 boosts consumption \u2192 destroys the climate.<\/p>\n

And because everything must remain \u201cinternationally competitive,\u201d wages are squeezed, resources strip-mined, and sustainability dismissed as a \u201cnice to have.\u201d Climate protection? Sure \u2014 but only when it\u2019s comfortable.<\/p>\n

Will technology save us? Unfortunately not.<\/h2>\n

We place our hopes on miracle machines that will vacuum CO\u2082 out of the sky while we keep jetting to Mallorca and Phuket. But carbon-capture technologies are far from compensating for our damage. And hydrogen has yet to prove it\u2019s made of the stuff dreams are made of.<\/p>\n

The belief in technological salvation is the new religion of the 21st century \u2014 and it\u2019s dangerous. We\u2019re lying to ourselves if we think real sustainable progress will magically show up \u201csometime.\u201d Postponed means cancelled.<\/p>\n

Cultural shift instead of climate cosmetics<\/h2>\n

Sustainability isn\u2019t a department in a ministry \u2014 it\u2019s a lifestyle. At best, it belongs among the core values of a modern society. We need the courage to change \u2014 even against bar-stool cynicism and manager-mantras.<\/p>\n

A real culture shift means:
\n\u2013 no longer treating the climate crisis<\/strong> as a side effect of profit addiction,
\n\u2013 slowing down globalization<\/strong>,
\n\u2013 anchoring production locally<\/strong> again,
\n\u2013 linking social justice<\/strong> and ecology as one.<\/p>\n

Prosperity must stop meaning having more \u2014 and start meaning living better.<\/p>\n

Redefining progress<\/h2>\n

Progress is when we pause. When growth stops being sacred and starts being meaningful. When we don\u2019t lose \u201chaving,\u201d but become free from it.<\/p>\n

An economy that takes sustainability seriously measures success not by speed, but by impact \u2014 for people, society, and the climate.<\/p>\n
